DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT (Robert Orr) We have all made spur-of-the-moment decisions that surprisingly change the course of our lives. Sometimes these decisions are for the better - and sometimes for the worse. "Blind Turn" is a film about one of those moments that did not turn out for the better and how someone can still accept and grow from the personal devastation of guilt and regret. It is also about the inter-connectivity of the world and how our decisions often affect other people that we have never met, or never will. I was drawn to the idea of exploring these themes in an exciting way. Thus, the fact that Blind Turn was written as a thriller really appealed to me. The concept of visualizing a woman's inner emotional turmoil through a kidnapping story was fascinating and something that I had never seen before. The script felt to me like the classic film "Misery" or the more recent "Hard Candy". Both of those movies share not only a similar theme, but strong casts that compel an audience to keep watching. I was fortunate to have two actors who were not just capable, but were supremely committed to making these characters pop off the screen with the emotional intensity necessary to keep viewers riveted. As I read the script I also found that there were times I sympathized with Bruce (the antagonist) more than I did with Samantha (the protagonist). This really pulled me into the story and compelled me to further explore these flawed characters as the complex emotional scenario developed. Who's right and who's wrong? Sometimes I couldn't decide. Sometimes conflict has no easy resolution. The fact that all of these ideas were woven into such an engaging thriller made it very easy for me to decide to make this my first directing effort. I hope you enjoy it as much as we all enjoyed making it. A Psychological Thriller about the Consequences of Drunk Driving: More Information on IMDB New Movies 2012
